🧬 **What if simply stating Facts is not enough? **
Today Science has never been more visible, but yet also never so vulnerable. Our social media feeds are flooded with half truths and science communicator have less time to deliver the latest scientific breakthroughs and rather have to debunk most of the time.
Scientific institutions face a growing challenge besides funding cuts, the ever growing misinformation. So, how can we protect evidence, promote critical thinking, and retain public trust in science?
In this episode of **Daily Dose of Honest Science**, I’m joined by **Dr. Alex Dainis**, award-winning science communicator, video producer, and founder of Helicase Media. After earning her PhD at Stanford University, where she studied gene silencing in cardiovascular disease, Alex chose to bring complex science to life through engaging, accessible, and evidence-based storytelling. Her work includes science videos for the Museum of Science, the ACS Reactions channel, and educational initiatives such as Chemistry Shorts.
🎙️ *In this conversation, we explore:*
🔬 Why honest science communication matters more than ever
🧠 How critical thinking helps us evaluate scientific evidence and new research findings
📱 The challenges of communicating science in the age of social media, misinformation, and algorithm-driven outrage
🧪 How to break down complex topics without oversimplifying the science
🌍 How scientists, clinicians, and science communicators can build public trust in biomedical science
📚 Why clear dialogue and evidence-based discussions are essential for navigating research and understanding the latest scientific findings
Honest science communication requires clear dialogue. Rather than simply presenting facts or oversimplifying complex subjects, we need to help people engage with scientific evidence, ask questions, and develop a deeper understanding of research. Science progresses every day, and our understanding must evolve as new data emerge. Whether you’re a scientist, healthcare professional, student, science communicator, or simply curious about the intersection of health and research, this conversation offers valuable insights into how we can all engage more thoughtfully with science.
