First Sail at Medemblik

Warm and sunny and a lovely 10-15kt breeze on Sunday evening. Unloaded Black Tie and put her together. Was an hour too late to sail with the brothers Thorburg, launched as they were returning. First impressions, nice easy launching into deep water from the ramp. Sheltered little harbour with a narrow exit to the lake/inland sea which is fresh water. Once outside first thoughts where “I’m on my own and it’s a long way to the leeward shore” so I didn’t venture too far. Conditions very similar to Perth easterlies, 30 degree shifts every couple of minutes and bands of pressure that last about the same. Surprisingly warm water, only had a Lycra top and never felt cold. Then again they have just had a record heatwave. Looking forward to training in company, hopefully this afternoon.
