A viral post seen by 33 million people put a giant American strawberry next to a small European one. The pictures were almost certainly AI-generated, but the size difference is real, so I went looking for who a strawberry that big was built for. It runs from a whistleblower lawsuit against America's biggest berry brand to a USDA grading rule, a tomato banned from leaving Florida because of its shape, and the Spanish strawberries that fill European shelves every winter. Along the way: why most of Europe still has a strawberry season, and why that season is under pressure too. MAIN SOURCES The main research behind this video.
