This GIANT Redfish Ruined My Tournament

We hit the marsh with a falling tide, calm water, and one goal: put together a tournament limit of one redfish between 26–27 inches and two between 20–24 inches. With stained water making sight fishing tough, we had to slow down, watch for wakes and tails, and make every cast count. The fish were there—but getting the right size was a completely different story. We caught beautiful reds at 28 inches and 27¼ inches, both just too big for the tournament slot. Then I hooked into an absolute DINOSAUR that gave me one of the hardest fights I've ever had in shallow water! Along the way, I break down an important sight-fishing lesson: sometimes the best thing you can do after making the cast is NOTHING. Put the bait in front of the fish, let it sit, and let the bait do what it was designed to do.
