Abandoned (2026): The Scares the Actors Never Saw | Director & Cast Interview

What happens when a horror director deliberately keeps scares hidden from his own actors? For our Screamfest 2026 interview, we sat down with Abandoned (2026) director Joby Stephens and stars Grace Gallagher and Cameron Wight to find out how they created a found footage horror movie where some of the reactions were genuinely unexpected. Joby explains why he wanted the film to feel like one uninterrupted experience, while Grace and Cameron reveal what it was like working with redacted scripts, exploring a building they hadn't fully seen, and performing takes that lasted around 30 minutes. We also get into the unusual camera setup that made it possible, how the cast prepared for the physical demands of filming, and what happens when actors aren't entirely sure what's waiting in the next room.
