We Found a Military Tunnel Under the Mountain —Someone Was Still Using It

DESCRIPTION: Toby Marsh discovers warm air moving through a hidden vent on Tellus Mountain and realizes someone is still maintaining a military tunnel beneath the rock. Royce Danner leads the group to the sealed Air Force site, while Toby secretly begins speaking with Eleanor Voss, the ventilation engineer who has been watching their group and quietly keeping them alive for onths. When Royce decides to stack fifty-one tires over the air intakes and force Eleanor out with smoke, Toby helps prepare the plan before finally watering the diesel and taking the road flares. His footprints in the frost lead Royce, Kit, and Deke directly to Eleanor’s hidden service hatch, where the horns bring infected onto the mountain and Hollis is killed after following Toby. After both Royce and Eleanor reject him, Toby is forced to survive alone and finally understands the cost of never choosing a side.
