With the many options out there including the very popular 991 / Macan steering wheel swap; I chose to stick with 997 specific parts and opt for the fatter gripped leather wrapped OEM PORSCHE steering wheel found in Manual Transmission 997 911 GTS’. This quick video outlines the steps taken to remove the old and unattractive Multifunction-“PIZZA”-wheel and install the OE PORSCHE steering wheel. It also shows the steps taken to perform a small cleaning and restoration of the donor steering wheel I bought from eBay. The swap can be done very easily with basic hand tools. If you're looking to do a steering wheel swap with an OE PORSCHE steering wheel on your 997, expect to pay under or over $1k for the steering wheel and airbag.
