Deep in the lanes, the camera seemed to develop a mind of its own, wanting to gather up this lazy, lively afternoon and keep it in memory. The sky wasn't purely clear. Clouds drifted over now and then, veiling the sun before scattering again, as if pressing pause on the heat for a moment. Even so, the swelter clung stubbornly to the skin, and sweat soaked through my shirt more than once. But summer did nothing to keep the crowds away — people still drifted through the alleys, taking photos, sitting idle, strolling with iced coffee in hand, forming the particular slice of life that belongs only to Nimman. Inside Roast8ry Coffee, industrial-chic space held the scent of coffee in the air, sunlight spilling through the glass onto the floor, making even the wait for a cup feel unhurried. At WHYs Nimman Cafe & Restaurant, greenery wrapped around the courtyard, hiding a quiet corner amid the bustle — sitting down to a plate of pasta, a glass of iced latte, watching shadows of clouds and people drift slowly along the veranda, time seemed to stretch and slow. What the camera caught was the humid, living breath of these alleys — sunlight, the smell of coffee, and the crowds weaving through it all.
