The boss of one of Europe’s biggest airlines has berated the EU’s new border system, which has led to long delays. Chief executive of EasyJet, Kenton Jarvis, told ITV News on Thursday: “It's completely unacceptable, they’ve had since 2017 to prepare for this eventuality, and they’ve obviously done a very poor job”. This is the first peak summer period where the EU’s controversial new entry/exit system is in operation, affecting many of the most popular holiday destinations for UK travellers. The system involves registering fingerprints and facial images at special kiosks. In April, around 100 EasyJet passengers were left in Milan after the new border checks delayed them. The airline's boss defended leaving passengers behind, saying “our crews have regulated hours where they can fly and if you wait too long the crew will go out of hours and not be able to complete the flight, so we have no choice”. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram:   / itvnews   Follow ITV News on Facebook:   / itvnews   Follow ITV News on X:   / itvnews
