How closely do ETABS and RC Column Designer compare when checking a reinforced-concrete column under axial load and biaxial bending? In this video, we compare the design workflow and reported results for a square reinforced-concrete column with a 400 × 400 mm cross-section and an applied axial load of Pu = 2600 kN. The demonstration follows the complete engineering workflow, from defining the column and materials to reviewing reinforcement, interaction diagrams, and final design checks. The video highlights: • Column and material input in RC Column Designer. • The corresponding ETABS comparison workflow. • Axial-load and biaxial-bending verification. • P–M and P–M–M interaction behaviour. • Reinforcement arrangement and section review. • Design relationships, code-based checks, and report outputs. • A practical comparison of the information presented by both programs. The purpose of this demonstration is to show the workflow, assumptions, and result presentation for the selected design case.
