Ancient Humans Had NO Religion... So What Did They Believe?

No church. No priest. No holy book. No name for God — because the idea of one all-powerful god didn't even exist yet. And yet tens of thousands of years before the first religion was ever founded, ancient humans were already terrified of the dark, already leaving gifts for something unseen, already crawling deep into pitch-black caves to paint pictures nobody was ever meant to casually see. So if it wasn't religion... what exactly were they doing? In this video, we go back further than any organized religion on Earth to uncover what humans actually believed before religion existed — animism, shamans, therianthropes, grave rituals, the 40,000-year-old Lion Man figurine, and the mind-bending discovery of Göbekli Tepe, a massive ritual complex built by hunter-gatherers BEFORE farming, pottery, or permanent villages ever existed. It completely rewrites the assumption that belief came after civilization. If you've ever stood somewhere quiet — a dark forest, an empty cave, the ocean at night — and felt like something was "there," this video explains where that feeling actually comes from. 🔔 Subscribe for more deep-dive history and human origin videos every week. 📚 SOURCES & FURTHER READING Göbekli Tepe overview: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6...
