Camino Francés Day 36: Portomarín → Palas de Rei

Stage 36 of the Camino Francés! Portomarín to Palas de Rei, and one of our big days at 24.8 k's. Out of Portomarín it's back over the reservoir on the footbridge, then straight into a long, steady climb through the forest. Up past Gonzar and Castromaior (there's an Iron Age hillfort just off the path), then on to Ventas de Narón and over the Sierra Ligonde, the high point of the day. Past the old stone cross at Lameiros and down through Ligonde, Airexe and a string of little Galician villages before the final run into Palas de Rei. Plenty of pilgrims on the path now that the Sarria crowd has joined! Staying tonight on the edge of town, so a few extra steps at the end of a long one. We've now walked 705 k's, with 67 to go.
