This route will be numbered SL12, and will run in east London. The SL12 will connect Gants Hill, Romford, Elm Park and Rainham. It will provide a bus service to Ferry Lane Industrial Estate for the first time. The SL12 is set to be the first and only Superloop route in the borough of Havering. It will also be the first Superloop route to use Wright StreetDeck Electroliner EVs. The SL12 will be a limited stop express service, serving 17 stops. The route will serve Gants Hill Station, Newbury Park, Little Heath (King George Hospital), Romford Town Centre, Queens Hospital, Elm Park, Rainham Tesco, Rainham Station South and Ferry Lane. Frequency and Times The SL12 will run frequently, with a bus every 12 to 15 minutes. The route will operate on all days of the week, but will not run at night. The SL12 will run between around 05:00 and 00:30, with no night service. Operational Details: The SL12 will use new 2nd generation Vision Zero StreetDeck Electroliners. Around fourteen Electroliners will be used to run the service. Stagecoach East London will run the route from Rainham (RM) garage. Aims and Benefits The SL12 aims to create direct journeys around east and northeast London. It will run alongside several regular bus routes. Including the 66 between Gants Hill and Romford, And the 165, 365 and 372 between Elm Park and South Hornchurch. Ferry Lane, Rainham Riverside: One of the SL12's main benefits will be providing Ferry Lane Industrial Estate with a bus service. Ferry Lane is located on the north bank of the River Thames. It is currently isolated, with no public transport links. The closest bus and rail services are at Rainham Interchange. This is a 1.3 mile (30 minute) walk from Ferry Lane. The SL12 will serve one stop located around the centre of the industrial estate. It will then run non stop, with its second stop being south of Rainham Interchange. Employees working in Ferry Lane will be able to benefit from new public transport links. Benefits of the SL12 include: More areas gaining direct links to King George and Queens Hospital. A new bus service serving the Ferry Lane Industrial Estate. Faster links to Romford - a major area for shops, jobs and leisure. And convenient links to Tube, London Overground, Elizabeth Line and National Rail services. Background History The SL12 is part of several planned "Superloop 2" routes. The route was first announced in April 2024 as part of the mayor of London's re-election campaign. Initial maps showed the SL12's eastern terminus at Leytonstone. However this was changed to Gants Hill when the public consultation launched in 2025. Confirmation for the SL12 was announced in September 2025. A target date was launched, but this was delayed. Superloop Background The Superloop network currently consists of the SL1 to SL11 and BL1 Bakerloop. The SL12 will be the thirteenth addition to the express bus network. #bus #tfl #buses No AI was used in the making of this video, it just turns out photoshopping waves was a lot easier than I expected :)
