Trick or treat! On this week's Glue and Giggles, we built a sturdy treat box from a single sheet of cardstock. This is my final Halloween treat container of the season, but keep these measurements handy, because this box is perfect for Christmas gifts, Valentine's, and Mother's Day too.
Welcome, crafty friends! Grab a coffee and settle in. Before we start, here is my challenge for you: bring a friend along next week. The more chat we have, the more we get to know each other, and the more fun Thursday nights are. Everyone is welcome here!
What You Will Learn:
▶️How to score and trim a treat box from one sheet of cardstock
▶️Betty's tip: why scoring on both sides gives you cleaner folds
▶️How to line up designer paper while the box is still flat
▶️The bottom flap order that keeps your box neat and square
▶️How to use leftover paper strips as side decorations so nothing is wasted
▶️How to finish with a flagged end greeting on Dimensionals
Measurements:
▶️Start with cardstock 8-1/2" x 7-1/2"
▶️With the 8-1/2" side at the top, score at 3", 4", 7" and 8" (use the lighter score blade)
▶️Turn so the 7-1/2" side is at the top, score at 1", 6" and 7"
▶️Trim out the marked areas and snip little strips so the box folds better
▶️Designer paper: trim 1/2" off the top and 1/2" off the bottom, 1-1/2" from each side, leaving a 3" strip for the middle
▶️Leftover strips cut at 15/16" wide make lovely side decorations
▶️Punch the thumb notch with a 3/4" circle punch
▶️Full tutorial with Jackie's scoring diagram is in my Tuesday newsletter
Products and Supplies Featured:
▶️Spooktacular designer series paper: 48 sheets, 4 designs (the green guy, pumpkin, skeleton, Dracula), 12 of each, with black, white and orange backs. Tonight I used the skeleton and matched his rosy cheeks in the design
▶️Cardstock, scoreboard with the lighter score blade, and a trimmer
▶️Tear & Tape adhesive (I cut mine with scissors; tearing pulls the cardstock fibres), plus use a bone folder for burnishing
▶️3/4" circle punch for the thumb notch. A keeper tool; most of us hang onto our circle punches
▶️Dimensionals for the flagged end greeting label
▶️An acrylic or glass block tucked inside for stability while you assemble
▶️Product of the Month: Shining Stars dies, item 168600, 23 dies, only $7 with a $100 order. The nested, graduated dies are the real stars of the show

Why You Will Love This Project:
It starts as one flat sheet and ends as a treat box that holds five little goodies. The folds are crisp thanks to scoring both sides, the paper goes on flat so everything lines up, and the leftovers become the decorations. Make it spooky for Halloween now, then pull the measurements out again for Christmas, Valentine's, and Mother's Day.
Join the Chat:
This community is the best part of Thursday nights, and I would love to see it grow. Bring a friend along next week, say hello in the comments, and tell me which projects you would like to see. If you had the Spooktacular paper, which design background would you use most? I have mostly reached for the pumpkin face in my weekly videos, but tonight the skeleton won.
Coming Up:
Die special ends Friday, October 23: 15% off certain dies. Sometimes the bundle is the better deal, but if you already own the stamp set, now is the time to grab the dies on sale.
October joining special ends Saturday, October 31: if you have never been a demonstrator in the last two years, you qualify for a welcome box full of goodies when you join. The contents are a secret, and it arrives in the mail.
Keep on stamping and having fun! Please mail your cards!
