The Old Mount Whitney Fish Hatchery is just outside of Independence, California. The Old Mount Whitney Fish Hatchery was constructed in 1916 and was opened in 1917. This hatchery was responsible for stocking all of the backcountry lakes in the Eastern Sierra.
