You may know the Congaree Vista for its restaurants, galleries, nightlife and beautiful historic buildings, but do you know what was here before all of that?
Come with me as I explore the Congaree Vista in Columbia, South Carolina, and uncover the history hiding in plain sight.
From the railroad tracks that helped turn West Gervais Street into a bustling commercial and industrial district, to the incredible story of Adluh Milling Company, this neighborhood has a fascinating past.
We'll take a look at two important pieces of the Vista that are still here today, including the iconic Adluh/Allen Bros. Milling complex and the South Carolina State Museum, and talk about how this part of Columbia transformed from an industrial railroad district into the vibrant neighborhood we know today.
And, of course, I'll share why Harcourts Carolinas chose to call the Vista home. ❤️
The Vista isn't just where our office happens to be, it’s a place with history, character, creativity and a whole lot of Columbia personality. And I think once you know its story, you'll see it a little differently.
