Bibbulmun Track - day 26

Day 26 - Gregory Brook to Donnelly River Village August 29, 2025 Rhea successfully hiked out before us this morning for the first time, probably eager for town since she's guaranteed to see emus. The walk out was green tunnel for some distance, before gradually clearing and then becoming more consistently open forest land. We saw large groups of black cockatoos, who regularly scream at us and fly off only to resettle on the same favourite perches once more. A red-breast or two and many other small birds along the way. The last few Kms were on wide easy trails and we worked through the last 9.6 km in about two hours of fast hiking to arrive shortly after Rhea. Coffee and coke was had at the general store as well as our usual lunch of wraps with PB and dates or jam since the number of vegan options on the menu was zero. Roos, emus, black face parrots, bronze wing pigeons and a group of blue wrens all around the general store, fairly tame, which was lovely. After settling in a bit and paying for shower / kitchen access we met Adam, who is bike packing the Mundabiddi trail. Post dinner and conversation we ended up watching Fargo... interesting since it's set in Minnesota where Adam is from, and he'd never seen it in full. Adam was enjoyable company, suspect ahem more conversation between Rhea and Adam may have ensued after we went to bed.
