"In this project, I took on the challenge of building a completely natural underground survival shelter directly beneath the massive roots of a living tree. Using primitive hand tools, natural forest timber, stone, and clay plaster, I crafted an off-grid cabin and underground sleeping quarter designed to blend seamlessly into the wilderness.
Experience the full journey from initial earth excavation and framework construction to handcrafted mud walls, an earthen cooking stove, and spending the first night sheltered by the forest canopy.
🌿 Key Highlights of the Build:
Excavating beneath living tree roots
Crafting timber frames and natural bark shingles
Mixing and applying natural clay & mud plaster
Building a stone fire hearth & ventilation
First warm meal and overnight stay inside the shelter
