More Than My Name
I remember golden halls
Before the smoke consumed the walls
A father's voice, a mother's hand
A boy too young to understand
Then everything I knew was gone
No home behind, no road beyond
I carried nothing through that night
But what they gave me for the flight
I thought surviving was enough
Just breathe, keep moving, don't look back
But every mile that kept me safe
Could never give my childhood back
They gave me blood
They gave me birth
But neither one
Could prove my worth
I am more than my name
More than the blood running through my veins
If I return, it won't be
For everything they took from me
I won't ask men to die
So I can sit where my father once sat
If I ever raise my hand
It will be for those
Who cannot raise theirs back
They made a story from my ghost
A whispered hope from coast to coast
A faceless prince they kept alive
While I was learning to survive
They sang a man I hadn't been
Braver than the boy within
And every word they passed around
Became another weight I found
I never asked to be their sign
I never chose their hope as mine
But if my name can make them stand
Then I must learn to understand
A name can open
Ancient doors
But what comes after
Must be yours
I am more than my name
More than the blood running through my veins
I won't return just to reclaim
A broken throne and family name
Let others speak of destiny
I know what choice has made of me
If I ever wear a crown
It must be earned
Before it's handed down
I still remember father's voice
I still remember mother's hands
The night I ran while everything
I ever knew was lost behind
For years I dreamed that I'd return
And somehow make the broken whole
But vengeance cannot wake the dead
Or give me back the life they stole
The past has taken all it can
The living need me where I stand
Keep every song they made of me
Keep every story, keep the crown
I will not rise because of blood
Or what my father handed down
And if one day they call me king
Let them remember how I stood
Not for the name that I was given
But for the man I chose to be
I AM MORE THAN MY NAME
MORE THAN THE BLOOD RUNNING THROUGH MY VEINS
TAKE EVERY TITLE
TAKE EVERY CLAIM
I'LL STILL DECIDE THE MAN I BECOME
I won't ask them to bleed
For a throne that once belonged to me
But if they stand for home and hope
Then I will stand where they can see
No birth can make me worthy
No crown can make me just
I was born into a name
I'LL GIVE THEM
A MAN THEY CAN TRUST
Not for vengeance
Not for glory
Not because the blood is mine
For the living
For tomorrow
For the ones still left behind
I was born into a name
But a name could never make the man
I will carry what remains
And become the man I am
