Encourage Yourself in the Lord | 1 Samuel 30:6
What do you do when nobody is cheering you on?
When the people you expected to encourage you have nothing to say. When the people you helped aren’t there when you need help. When you’ve encouraged everybody else, and now you’re the one who needs encouragement.
📖 In 1 Samuel 30, David returned to Ziklag and found the city burned and his family taken. He and his men wept until they had no strength left. Then the same men who’d followed him began talking about stoning him.
But Scripture says: “David found strength in the Lord his God.” (1 Samuel 30:6)
The circumstances hadn’t changed yet. But something changed in David.
In this message:
✅ Why you can’t build your strength on other people’s encouragement
✅ Why faith doesn’t mean pretending you’re not hurting
✅ How David moved from the ruins to wise action
✅ Why strengthening yourself in God doesn’t mean facing everything alone
✅ How to stop depending on applause, likes and recognition
✅ A simple 3-step morning practice for the next 7 days
✅ A powerful prayer for strength over your career, business, finances, family and relationships
People can love you and still be unavailable. They can believe in you and still have moments of doubt. Encouragement from people is valuable, but it can’t be the foundation of your identity.
You can weep and still have faith. You can feel overwhelmed and still seek God. The question isn’t whether discouragement comes. It’s where you turn when it does.
And remember: not everything valuable gets immediate applause. The care you give your children. The integrity you keep when nobody’s watching. The courage to start again. God sees what people overlook.
🗒️ Your 7-Day Practice:
Every morning, remember three things:
Who God is: faithful, merciful, wise and present.
What God has already brought you through.
One faithful thing you can do today. Not everything. Just one.
🙏 Declare:
“I may be discouraged, but I am not abandoned. I may be disappointed, but my life is not finished. I may not receive encouragement from everybody, but I can find strength in the Lord. I will not allow today’s pain to make every decision about tomorrow.”
💛 If discouragement has turned into persistent hopelessness, please don’t carry it alone. Speak to a doctor or someone you trust, or contact a support line in your country. In the UK, Samaritans is free on 116 123.
If you believe this, type Amen in the comments.

📖 Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:1–8
May the Lord strengthen your heart when encouragement is scarce, surround you with people who genuinely care, and help you stay faithful even when nobody is applauding. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
