Big Fish (2003): Spielberg Almost Made It — Tim Burton Turned It Into His Most Emotional Film

What happens when a movie that was originally being developed by Steven Spielberg ends up in the hands of Tim Burton? Big Fish (2003) may be one of the most unusual films in Burton’s career — and possibly his most emotional. Starring Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange, Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Buscemi and Danny DeVito, Big Fish tells a story about storytelling itself: memories, exaggerations, family relationships and the blurry line between factual truth and emotional truth. In this review, I discuss why Big Fish feels so different from the stereotypical Tim Burton film, its similarities to Forrest Gump, the movie’s episodic structure, its excellent transitions and cinematography, and the personal circumstances surrounding Burton when he made the film. I also take a look at cinematographer Philippe Rousselot, production designer Dennis Gassner, John August’s collaborations with Burton, and some familiar faces hidden throughout the cast — including a very young Miley Cyrus, credited as Destiny Cyrus. And yes, there is a SPOILER SECTION toward the end of the video. #BigFish #TimBurton #EwanMcGregor #MovieReview #FilmReview #MovieAnalysis #ClassicMovies #Cinema #ForrestGump #RevivalFlix Mentioned links: Big Fish — IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319061/ Official Trailer:    • Big Fish - Official Trailer   Tim Burton — IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000318/ Forrest Gump — IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109830/ Support our channel by using tools we recommend: One of our main goals is to encourage people to create their own channel and make the community grow with fun discussions about classic, old, forgotten, or missed films.
