Manipur Violence: Killings Spark Protests Outside CM Residence As Tension Mounts | News9 A fresh wave of violence has hit Manipur after three people collecting firewood in a forest were killed and three others injured by militants, while three more remain missing. The incident sparked intense protests in Imphal, where agitated locals placed two victims' bodies directly outside the official residence of Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh in Babupura. Security forces fired tear gas shells to disperse crowds as demonstrators blocked key roads, and commercial establishments shut down across the capital. Tensions further escalated following clashes during a musical event in Thoubal district that left one person dead, multiple people injured, and properties torched. On News9 Live, experts examined the spiralling unrest and administrative response. Panellists debated whether the incidents represent local land skirmishes turning ethnic or signal a wider administrative breakdown across vulnerable border areas like Kangpokpi and Churachandpur. Critical questions were raised regarding intelligence lapses, the failure to apprehend perpetrators, and the stalling of long-promised peace committees and inquiry commissions amid fears that local friction could expand into wider multi-ethnic confrontations. #Manipur #ManipurViolence #Imphal #Thoubal #Kangpokpi #ManipurNews #YKhemchandSingh #NortheastNews #SecurityUpdate #IndiaNews #LawAndOrder #Meitei #Kuki #BreakingNews #News9Live ..............................................................................................
