KINGDOM PRINCIPLES God’s Kingdom operates according to principles that are different from the values of this world. True blessing begins when we recognize our complete dependence on God. Jesus said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 5:3 To be poor in spirit does not simply mean financial poverty. It means understanding that without God, we have nothing and can do nothing. We stop trusting in ourselves, human strength, possessions, and worldly systems, and we place our confidence in the Lord. Jeremiah warns: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength.” — Jeremiah 17:5 Such a person becomes like a dry bush in the desert. But the person who trusts in the Lord is like a tree planted by water—rooted, fruitful, and unafraid when difficult seasons come (Jeremiah 17:7–8). This passage does not teach that every poor person lacks faith; it reveals that trusting in human strength produces spiritual barrenness, while trusting in God gives life and stability. Job was tested, and God allowed him to suffer for a season. Although Job lost almost everything, he continued seeking God. When he humbled himself, repented, and prayed for his friends, the Lord restored him and gave him twice as much as he had before (Job 42:5–10). Job’s story does not present a formula guaranteeing that everyone will receive exactly double. It reveals God’s sovereignty, faithfulness, and power to restore according to His purpose and timing. Jesus also taught: “Give, and it will be given to you.” — Luke 6:38 Giving is an important Kingdom principle, but it is not a method of buying God’s blessing or becoming rich quickly. We begin by learning to give, but we must continue growing in faithfulness, stewardship, obedience, generosity, patience, and trust. We sow faithfully and leave the time and form of the harvest in God’s hands. Everything belongs to God: “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.” — Psalm 24:1 Whatever we possess has been entrusted to us by Him. Therefore, when God directs us to give, we should give willingly and joyfully. We are not owners, but stewards of His resources. God’s blessing comes in His appointed time. Let us not become discouraged while doing good, because we will reap in due season if we do not give up. Our responsibility is to trust, obey, give, work faithfully, and remain patient. The timing and outcome belong to God.
