In Episode 27 of Byomkesh Bakshi, “Paheli Gatha”, set in Calcutta in 1964, Ajit joins Bhupesh Chatterjee’s bridge group while Byomkesh is away in Cuttack. One night, Ajit hears a loud noise and finds Natwarlal Naskar shot dead in his room, with a pistol placed on the window ledge. A man wearing a red shawl is seen fleeing the building, while the building manager, Shiv, is also found dressed in similar attire. The investigation reveals that Ramchander and Banmali are actually Rasbihari and Banbihari from Dhaka, whom Natwar had been blackmailing.
