Holy Spirit

I recently heard a sermon about the Fruit of the Spirit, and as I listened, I began to think more deeply about what it really means to have the fruit of the Holy Spirit evident in our lives. The Scripture says: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…” — Galatians 5:22–23, KJV These words caused me to examine my own life. Do I show love when it is difficult to love? Do I have peace when life becomes uncertain? Can I be patient when I am tested? Am I gentle, faithful, and able to exercise self-control when circumstances challenge me? I realized that the Fruit of the Spirit is more than something we can quote from Scripture. It is something we are called to live. It should be seen in how we speak, how we treat one another, how we respond when we are hurt, and how we represent Christ every day. That sermon stayed with me, and from that reflection came this song—a prayer that the Holy Spirit will continue to work in me so that His fruit can be seen in my life.
