It is possible to be completely right about the truth and still speak it in the wrong spirit. The Christian is not called to hide the truth, soften it until it means nothing, or apologize for what Christ has said. But neither are we called to treat people as arguments to be defeated. 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV) “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” Our confidence should come from Christ, not from winning debates. We can answer hard questions because our faith is not built on avoiding them. We can speak plainly about sin, repentance, obedience, the resurrection, and the Lordship of Jesus without becoming cruel or prideful. Truth may confront us. Grace may humble us. But both come together perfectly in Christ. Jesus does not merely affirm us where we are; He calls us to Himself, forgives us, changes us, and gives a peace the world cannot manufacture. When people reject what Christ teaches, our responsibility is not to force belief. It is to faithfully point to the One who saves, answer honestly, live consistently, and trust God with the heart standing in front of us. Lord Jesus, give me courage to speak Your truth without fear and humility to speak it without pride. Help me care more about souls than arguments. Give me wisdom when I answer, compassion when I am challenged, and faithfulness when Your truth is unpopular. Let my words point people toward Your grace, Your forgiveness, and the peace found only in You. Amen.
