Executive presence is not something you put on in the lift on the way to the meeting. The moment it looks like a costume, the room stops trusting you. Most advice tells you to perform more: lower the voice, hold the pose, project. That is why it stops working. Presence is what happens when your judgement and your delivery are the same thing.
