JF Plane 4:73 1-Lap SC (WR)

oldest time trial WR beaten! i can't lie, this is straight up one of the worst time trial categories lol. although it's nothing insurmountable, there's a lot of precision needed in this lap, and getting good at it without the practice ROM is also pretty rough, given how inconsistent the clip can be. i did intentionally make this worse for myself by using ARNOLD and zooming the camera in, for style points (and so i could say i got a WR with ARNOLD); with TEENYWEENIES, you can get consistent lagless on the zipper and have a much nicer time here. the main tricky points are the lap trigger itself and the ceiling boost at the end, which can easily send you back inbounds if you're not careful with it. i did also briefly try this with diddy kong and got a 6:50 with no ceiling boost, as 1. this seemed like the best shot for a non-unlockable to get a WR, and 2. his handling could have helped on the turnaround; unfortunately, he's just too slow and doesn't get to the other side of the track quickly enough. so, barring any other tricks up my sleeve, it looks like this is T.T.-only territory. unique category no. 111 for me, which ties nordic for the most in the game's history :D
