Throw Off the Coat | Ellery Stone

Bartimaeus was a blind beggar sitting by the road out of Jericho when Jesus came past with a crowd. He shouted for mercy, the crowd told him to be quiet, and he shouted louder. Jesus stopped and called for him, and the same crowd that had hushed him turned around and said take heart, get up, he is calling you. Bartimaeus threw off his cloak and went. That cloak was most likely what he spread on the ground to collect alms, which made it the one thing he owned that was worth anything, and he walked away from it. Track two on Called by Name, twelve folk songs, and the first one with real drive to it: strummed guitar, a floor tom pulse, and strings rising on the chorus.
