This was a very entertaining title. It has the right type of reward for challenging you. I can see a lot of the things my friend was telling me 26 years ago about this game. I guess at the time I wasn't sapient enough to quite grasp how this game was mean to work. The movement was very boat like (but I like it and it fits a thief walk). The graphics at the time were not holding up to Half Life 1 which was more brighter in palette but I have to say it was my loss because this game provided me more entertainment than many games I had played over the last 15 years. All in all I think I will be playing Thief regularly, I must finish Black Parade, which will offer a few good hours then onto Thief 2, Thief 3, Dishonored and finally running the Dark Mod and enjoying the countless fan missions others have created.
Intro:
Never played this. For someone who enjoys Deus Ex so much I know its a shocker. A friend in my first high school got into it around 2000-2001 and recommended it to me. At the time I was preoccupied with other games (those years were good years for games). My first exposure for stealth that was outside of line-of-sight was Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid Substance (both for the PC). So I ended up missing the Thief title entirely. So what better time to give this game a good try. I recall some MSN conversation my friend was having with me when relaying his experiences. Sneaking, water arrows, light. I plan to play the first 2 or 3 titles of Thief before jumping onto The Dark Mod which runs on the Doom 3 engine (which is the BEST engine for that hard shadow style game).
