The Ultimate El Retiro Route: From Secret Art to Spooky Statues! 🌳👟 Join me on a massive trek through Madrid’s most iconic park, El Retiro! We’re starting at the stunning Parroquia de San Manuel y San Benito and crossing over to the beautiful Fuente de los Galápagos. It’s a long walk, so we’re stopping for a quick refreshment where I’ll show you exactly how locals order their cold coffee in Spain (it’s a must-know tip!). ☕️🧊 On our route today: 🎨 Artistic Discovery: Exploring the Palacio de Velázquez to see the thought-provoking artwork of Fernando Sánchez Castillo. 💎 The Crystal Palace: Checking in on the iconic Palacio de Cristal while it’s under renovation. 🌀 Getting Lost: This park is massive! I’ll show you just how easy it is to lose your way in the greenery. 👹 The Spooky Finish: Finding the infamous Ángel Caído (Fallen Angel) statue—the only one of its kind! By the end, my feet were definitely feeling the miles, so it was time for a quick shoe-to-slipper swap before exiting through the Angel Caído gate toward the giant Atocha Train Station. To wrap up this epic day, we’re heading to our favorite local spot, 100 Montaditos, for a much-needed late lunch! 🥖🍺 Have you ever had to change into slippers mid-tour?
