MUSAIC COLLECTIVE PRESENTS PRUNED (BIGGER AIN’T BETTER MIX) OCTOBER 17TH, 2026 Original psychedelic cinematic trap / atmospheric hip-hop / dark melodic rap by VCG about ambition, success, ego, excess, maturity, discernment, purpose, and learning that growth is not always addition. “Not everything that grows is healthy.” That is the center of PRUNED. Written as a conceptual counter to Travis Scott ft. Lil Wayne — “GROWTH,” this track challenges one of modern culture’s favorite assumptions: More automatically means better. More money. More followers. More rooms. More access. More fame. More opportunities. More noise. But growth without direction can become expansion without purpose. And expansion without purpose can become bloat. Sometimes becoming healthier means adding something. Sometimes it means cutting something away. “Everybody yellin’ ‘GROW!’ I’m like—WHICH DIRECTION THOUGH?” PRUNED is not anti-success. It is anti-success-without-examination. Build the business. Improve your craft. Earn honestly. Take care of your people. Become stronger. But do not confuse a bigger platform with a bigger character. A packed calendar does not automatically mean a meaningful life. A larger bank account does not guarantee peace. A room full of contacts does not guarantee one person you can actually call. And constant motion does not prove you are going anywhere. “A treadmill got mileage. That thing ain’t been anywhere.” That is where the pruning metaphor enters. A healthy tree sometimes loses branches so the rest can bear better fruit. Human beings can need the same kind of examination. Pride. Spite. People pleasing. Fake humility. Old grudges. Empty success. Relationships held together only by history. Opportunities that look impressive but quietly steal everything important. “Some doors aren’t blessings. Some are distractions with excellent lighting.” One of the hardest forms of growth is learning to say: This does not come where I’m going. The song also pushes against the idea that every loss is failure. Sometimes subtraction is rescue. Sometimes losing access gives you peace. Sometimes losing applause gives you clarity. Sometimes losing the need to prove yourself gives you your life back. “I had to cut it to grow.” The cover visualizes that divide. On one side: MORE MONEY. MORE FOLLOWERS. MORE ROOMS. MORE FAME. MORE ACCESS. MORE DISTRACTIONS. MORE NOISE. MORE EGO. A city overflowing with status while still looking spiritually starved. On the other: PURPOSE. DISCERNMENT. BOUNDARIES. PEACE. REAL FRIENDS. HEALTH. GRATITUDE. DEPTH. WISDOM. FREEDOM. The central figure sits between those two definitions of growth. Not rejecting ambition. Choosing what deserves to keep growing. Because ego counts size. Maturity asks a different question: Who did you become in between? Musically, PRUNED moves through detuned choir, reversed piano, cavernous 808s, psychedelic synth textures, conversational rap, technical double-time passages, warped ambience, halftime sections, distorted bass, vocal stacks, live-drum accents, and a massive final breakdown. The arrangement keeps expanding— until the message itself demands subtraction. NOT EVERYTHING THAT GROWS IS HEALTHY. NOT EVERYTHING THAT SHRINKS IS LOSS. Sometimes the branch you are afraid to cut is the thing starving the whole tree.
