── I could not say it right. Half of what I meant never came out, and later I remembered all of it, and stopped wanting to do anything at all. On days like this, it is better not to decide anything. The regret, the plans for tomorrow — none of that has to be today. Just watch the fire. There is a single fire on the sand. There is no one else here. And yet it has not gone out. The branches have been rebuilt, and fresh ones are stacked beside the ash. Someone was here until just a moment ago. You will not meet them. You probably never will. I do not know their name, and I think it is fine not to. But the fire is being kept. Even while you are not watching, someone comes to add a branch. That is probably happening all over the world. So today, you do not have to do anything. Hand what you could not do over to tomorrow's version of you. Just the sound of the fire, for one hour. You do not have to say anything. You can fall asleep.
