The Prestige Hanged the RESCUER (and the Padlock Proves It!)

The man The Prestige hangs for murder is the man who was clawing at a sealed tank trying to drag Robert Angier out of the water, and the padlock on that tank is the proof: an escape tank ships with a trick lock built to pop open from the inside, and Angier's had been switched for a real one. This video builds the case out of the film, the switched lock in the evidence room, Cutter retracting the lie that the drowning was painless, and Lord Caldlow quietly buying up the evidence of his own murder. If it holds, this is not a tragedy about two equally ruined rivals; it is a serial killer choosing the night his rescuer would be standing over the body. This video is sponsored by Root, and it fit the movie a little too well. Root is a 2 to 4 player woodland game that looks absolutely adorable and then turns ruthless the second it hits the table. Strip the forest for resources as the Marquise de Cat, fight to win back your rule as the Eyrie, lead a secret revolution as the Woodland Alliance, or play every side (mostly your own) as the wandering Vagabond. For a film this full of hidden agendas, a game about hidden agendas was the right call.
