Just shy of the halfway point of the short, 54 minute flight, the city of Indianapolis comes into view. From our point of view, you can see the entire city lit up in the night. It's a beautiful sight. Northbound flights to Chicago fly east of Indianapolis; southbound flights fly west of the city. This means that if you are southbound out of ORD, or northbound towards ORD, you will get a full view of Indianapolis as long as you are sitting on the left side of the plane. The real treat comes as we fly the approach into O'Hare. Nonstop views of the city lights, including the downtown skyline, from the moment we pass over the southern tip of Lake Michigan, all the way to touchdown on runway 28C.
