Midstate Trail Section 1: Watatic to Muddy Pond Shelter (A 90-Mile Trail Nobody's Filmed)

Starting a new series — the Midstate Trail, roughly 90-something miles through Massachusetts depending on where you start counting it (AllTrails and midstatetrail.org measure it slightly differently). This first leg picks up at the base of Mt. Watatic and covers the ground toward Muddy Pond Shelter, with a surprisingly good view near Hunger Mountain and a quiet lake along the way. I looked for video on this trail before doing it — especially wanting to know what to expect at Muddy Pond Shelter — and came up mostly empty.
