Harrison Lin, a Stanford grad, built a machine that makes real sunlight: 60,000 lumens, about a hundred light bulbs, from a box smaller than a sheet of paper.
Light therapy lamps have been around for decades, and most end up in a drawer. Harrison wants the opposite: light you don't have to think about. You live your life, have your coffee and get the benefits of light.
In this conversation, Harrison and I talk about why a machine like this is only possible now, how one cold email to Bryan Johnson turned into a parking-lot handover in LA, why he believes light is as fundamental to health as sleep or food, and why he picked consumer hardware when investors kept telling him it's a graveyard.
