Finishing the Hasegawa 1/48 F 16A FSD | From Classic Kit to Red, White & Blue 4K

The Hasegawa 1/48 F 16 Fighting Falcon is one of those kits that has been around for decades. Originally released in 1983, it was considered one of the best F-16 kits available at the time, and it has remained a popular kit with modelers ever since. But this kit definitely shows its age. For this build, I decided to take the Hasegawa F-16A and turn it into an early Full Scale Development aircraft wearing the distinctive red, white, and blue scheme that first caught my attention years ago. What started as a simple idea turned into quite a research project as I dug into photographs, markings, and the differences between the early FSD aircraft and later production F-16s. Along the way I made a number of modifications to bring the model closer to the aircraft I was trying to represent. These included work on the cockpit, ejection seat, intake and engine area, landing gear, wheel wells, and other details that are either simplified or missing from the original kit. I also spent quite a bit of time researching the paint scheme and markings, including the decals and reference material needed to reproduce this particular aircraft.
