Making Fantasies Come True: One Story at a Time… and I found an amazing book that filled in “Every Missing Piece.” After finishing my last middle grade, I began to read “Every Missing Piece" by Melanie Conklin and by the time I finished it, I was absolutely in love with the story. This is an amazing middle grade mystery story that involves a mysterious boy, grief, family, and having everything fall into place easily for a middle schooler to understand. I found this book at my local mission after running out of middle grade reads and not having enough money to buy books from Amazon. When I picked up this book, I didn’t really know too much about it. I really don’t like reading the background blurbs of the story. I read a bit of the blurb, but I was mostly looking for mildly chunky middle grade books and this one happened to pique my interest. And since the book was only a quarter to get, I just bought it. So, the expectations of this book weren't the highest, but this book blew whatever expectation I had when reading the back blurb out of the park. I loved it so much. I loved the relationships that the main character had with her mom and her stepdad. I loved the realism that came with each character. Each of the characters felt so real and their motives made sense. And even when it comes to the mysterious boy that the main character meets who has an abusive past, I could see how the abuse would cause the kid to be the way he is. And even the grief that the main character is going through after the death of someone close to her, I can see how she became the way she is in the book… or really how it almost got worse. I can’t honestly remember if she had always been a little more paranoid than others. But I think it makes sense for her almost tom boy aesthetic. I could go on and on about all the amazing things that this book executed so beautifully… well I guess all the amazing work that Melanie did to make this book as great as it is. And in the back, it has acknowledgments and it shows how she worked with this book. She got people’s input and implemented it into the story. As an author who is writing a story that has to deal with abuse and trauma, I respect what she has done by getting sensitive readers input and getting social workers, lawyers, and therapists' inputs. Melanie did a fantastic job, and I can’t help but gush over this book. It is beautiful, magnificent. Melanie did an amazing job, and I will continue to read her books. I want to get “A Perfect Mistake” by Melanie, in hopes that “Every Missing Piece” was not just a one off excellent read… which I highly doubt that Melanie and her publishing house would let happen. So great job, Melanie, and keep up the great work. I loved this story and will preach it to the kids around me. Excellence. That is all I got to say about “Every Missing Piece” by Melanie Conklin and my next middle grade read is going to be “Charlie and Frog” by Karen Kane… all I know is that this is a mystery with a character who is deaf. Based on the back blurb, which I just read, it sounds like something that is going to be like the National Park book I read, so here goes nothing. I hope you all enjoyed this video and will pick up “Every Missing Piece” and give it a read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it is not just a book for young kids. It is meant for everyone. And if you have already read this book leave a dog emoji in the comment and tell me what you think of the book. And remember to keep making fantasies come true, one story at a time… and remember it is okay to enjoy other people’s stories instead of solely working on your own stories. Have a lovely day and I will see you in the next video about my 160-Day Challenge… bye.
