Welcome back to Part 2 of building my custom hollow wooden surfboard. In this episode, the board really starts taking its final shape.
Working with Paulownia wood has been an amazing experience. To create the curve of the rails, I used steam-bent wood strips.
Just like in Part 1, I filmed everything with my new camera setup in full 4K, capturing all the detailed woodworking, sanding, and cinematic angles.
In Part 2:
Steam-bending Paulownia wood strips for the rails
Building up and shaping the solid wood rails
Gluing down the top deck skin
Shaping, gluing, and flush-sanding the nose and tail blocks
In Part 3, we'll do the final shaping touches and glass the entire board to make it 100% watertight and ready for the waves.
