Friends of Ffestiniog Railway 2026 - featuring Slate & Gravity trains, Quarry Hunslet Elin

The Ffestiniog Railway Society AGM is held over the May Bank Holiday Weekend and always features a host of additional trains, including slate and gravity trains. Double Fairlie David Lloyd George hauled the anti-gravity trains on Saturday 2nd May 2026. We see DLG steaming up to Power Station Summit alongside the days service trains which were in the hands of Criccieth Castle & Lyd (Mountain Spirit to Blaenau Ffestiniog), Taliesin (Woodland Wanderer) and a solo Criccieth Castle (taking the return The Quarryman). The weekend has been branded Friends of Ffestiniog for a few years, and usually has featured a visiting locomotive form the Richmond Light Railway. This years visitor was a return for unique Quarry Hunslet 'Elin', which has a non standard Marshall boiler. On the Saturday the locomotive double headed with Prince a Ffestiniog Railway Society special working with the Victorian Train to Tan-y-bwlch. The return journey was joined by DLG, which was returning from its afternoon gravity working.
