There was a version of me that died the day I got married — and no one sent flowers for the grief that followed. We celebrate the wedding, the new name, the new season. We don't talk about what has to die inside of us to get there 🫢💔
Some losses come with funerals, condolences, and permission to mourn. Others arrive quietly, tucked inside the very things we call growth, maturity, success, transition, and new beginnings.
In this episode of 💦 The Watering Whole, I'm opening up about the losses that never get a repast:
💧 Why celebrated life transitions — marriage, parenthood, moving, growing up — can still carry real grief
💧 How getting married and changing my name quietly shifted my identity and how I understood myself
💧 The "tiny deaths" hidden inside becoming someone new
💧 How to miss who you were without regretting who you’re becoming
💧 The unacknowledged losses that create a pile-on when we keep labeling them “growing up” or “just moving on”
💧 A gentler way to honor and release former versions of yourself
💧 Why falling in love with change is part of how we heal — and how we stay young at heart
💧 What it looks like to travel light into your next season
Maybe your transition was marriage. Maybe it was motherhood or fatherhood, divorce, widowhood, losing a job, moving somewhere new, caring for aging parents, retirement, losing someone you love, or simply waking up one day and realizing the person you used to be is no longer here.
That does not mean the new version of you is wrong. It may simply mean the old version of you deserves to be acknowledged 🙏 and honored.
🤔 What version of yourself have you never given yourself permission to grieve? Tell me in the comments — I read every one.
