Creamy, comforting, and so easy to make! ❤️
Today at It’s Homecooked, we're making a simple and delicious Filipino favorite — Ginataang Malagkit na may Monggo! 🇵🇭🥥
This classic Filipino merienda is made with malagkit (sticky rice), toasted monggo, creamy coconut milk, and sugar. The toasted monggo gives this dessert a delicious nutty flavor while the coconut milk makes it rich, creamy, and comforting.
Perfect for merienda, dessert, family gatherings, or whenever you're craving something sweet and homemade!
The best part? You only need a few simple ingredients to make this delicious Filipino comfort food at home. Traditional versions commonly toast the mung beans first to bring out their flavor before cooking them with malagkit and coconut milk.
🍚 INGREDIENTS
Malagkit / glutinous rice
Monggo / mung beans
Coconut milk (gata)
Sugar
Coconut cream, optional
Water, as needed
Pinch of salt, optional
👩🍳 SIMPLE COOKING TIP
Toast the monggo first until fragrant and lightly browned. This helps bring out its nutty flavor. Stir the mixture regularly while cooking so the sticky rice doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.
Serve it warm, creamy, and freshly cooked — or chill it and enjoy it as a cold Filipino dessert!
