Alan Walker Style x Sia - Watch Me Land (Official Music Video) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ A song about finding out the ground isn't the punishment. Eight months of other people's sofas and her sister's spare room. Two suitcases and a box of books in somebody's garage in Leek. And the whole time, every day, braced — properly braced, in the shoulders — for the bit where she hits the ground and it finishes the job. Because that's what everybody implies when it ends. They do the face, they say "you'll get through it", and underneath it there's a thing nobody says out loud: that the falling is survivable and the landing is the part that gets you. She had it all planned out. She'd rehearsed the ground for eight months. She'd done the maths on the ground. And then on a Thursday in December she signed for a one-bedroom flat above a greengrocer's, on her own name, with her own deposit. Forty-one square metres. A window over the bins. The kitchen's got that lino that goes up the wall a bit at the edges, and the radiator in the front room makes a noise like somebody thinking, and it is the single best room she has ever stood in. She stood in it empty with the keys still in her hand for about ten minutes, with her coat on because the heating wasn't on yet, in the middle of the afternoon. And she didn't cry, which surprised her. She'd budgeted for crying. She's not going to pretend the eight months were secretly good. They were long and they were humiliating in small ways nobody warns you about — being thirty-four and asking your sister if it's alright to use her washing machine, keeping your life in a garage, having an address that isn't yours. But the thing she had completely upside down was this: she thought the ground was where it ended. And the ground is a floor, in a room, that you pay for, that has your name on it. It is the least frightening thing in the entire story. If you're in the falling bit, I'm not going to tell you it's fine, because it isn't fine, it's horrible. I'm telling you one specific thing: the ground is a floor. And it's going to hold. 🎹 Listen for what's missing before every drop. There's no riser and no snare roll anywhere in this song — just two bars of silence, and then it lands.
