The Road Home by Stephen Paulus

Stephen Paulus (1949–2014) was a highly regarded American composer, known for his vast contributions to choral music. The Road Home, composed in 2001, is one of his most popular pieces. The melody is based on a hymn tune (Prospect) from a 19th-century American collection of sacred music. The text speaks of a soul’s journey towards finding a way back to peace, love, and belonging. This is a live recording from our Caritas concert entitled ‘Hope and Remembrance’ at Penarth Methodist Church on 9th November 2024 when we raised £1,750 for RNLI Penarth Lifeboat Station. Our thanks go to Carl for his recording of this piece and to all at the church for their support of the concert. The soprano soloists in the final verse are Amber Fudge and Vanessa Hall.
