Defendants Often Got 'In Trouble' Together Before Lover's Murder: Witness

Witness Trevor Weis took the stand on Monday afternoon and recalled his relationship with the defendant, McKinley Louisma. Weis revealed that Louisma had been staying at his mother’s house prior to the murder and often drove him to and from work. Weis stated that he had been told not to inform his mother that Louisma and Dakota Van Patten were spending time together, as people were aware they tended to get into trouble when together. The two were reportedly in a romantic relationship before Louisma and her friend, Dakota Van Patten, allegedly worked together to beat Hoffman to death. The victim was placed in the trunk of a car and later dumped in a local lake.
