In 1950, Stalin ordered the construction of a nine-kilometer subterranean rail tunnel beneath the Nevelskoy Strait to Sakhalin Island. This classified project, known as Construction 506, aimed to create an invisible supply line to counter the US Pacific Fleet. Using the labor of the Gulag system, the state attempted to bypass engineering limits in one of the world's most hostile environments. This video explores the logistical madness, the failed physics, and the total abandonment of the project.
