17/11/2024 was my 35th birthday, so I've decieded to share one of the few sessions I haven't uploaded to this channel from 2018 when I was singing PH songs a lot. This time it is a real piano, but it is a really cheap one and old. We had this 'Lastochka' piano in our family since I was like 8-9 maybe, but I never really tried to learn it and despite me and my elder brother were playing some kind of the mocking-up rock band when I was like 9-15, while we were listening to some Beatles, ACDC, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Doors, Jethro Tull and some others, so we were kinda trying to generate our own stuff under their impression. We had used this piano very occasionally, especially me (initially the instrument was brought for my brother to practice harmonies/solfeggio 'cos he was studying accordion in his childhood). I've wrote maybe 3-4 songs at all using this one before in 2006 I've bought the MIDI-keyboard, so since I've switched to that one I barely even touched this real piano. That changed in late 2017 when I got broke up with the girl I loved back then, so I usually was playing a lot of guitar and sometimes this piano as well, cos that seemed easier than turning on my PC to play the MIDI-piano.
So on this very session it has started as usual from me casually going though my own various instrumental pieces and improvisations, then I went into instrumental versions for In The End, Four Pails, Nothing Comes and Unconscious Life, then after some improvisations I've came to Just Good Friends and after playing the 1st verse I've started singing. I usually never singed while playing this instrument because it is way too loud and I hardly can listen myself while playing it, so the recording initially had featured my voice covered heavily by that wall of piano sound. Now, thanks to different musical restoring tools I was able to lift vocals quite a lot, so that's why now I can show this if anyone is interested. Also my piano seems to be half a step lower to the usual tuning, so I gave the slight pitch correction to this (not altering the speed of the recording). Also when I was playing the MIDI-piano I often has lyrics in front of my screen, so I usually just read them though when singing. On this one I had to rely on memory only, and I honestly can't remember even my own lyrics for the half of what I've written, so yeah sometimes I was singing some rubbish instead of actual lyrics lines. Curtains might've been the most affected song by that cos it was relatively freshly learned by me, and after 'The Birds' I've also tried to give a try for Faint-Heart And The Sermon, but gave it up quickly after almost 3 minutes, realising I totally forgot the lyrics, so I've cut it out. Also, after the Vision there were some 40 minutes of the another pretty mindless piano improvising/playing some my own tunes, but I don't think it sound any interesting in that underdeveloped form, so I've cut it off as well.
Cheers, and more of PH/VDGG content to follow later this month, as planned.
