Seams like this show up everywhere in hardware design, from lamps and electronics housings to medical devices and moon landers, whether for practical reasons (assembly, molding limits, drainage gaps) or purely for visual interest. In this video I cover how to create offset construction planes and position them precisely on a body, how to use the split body tool to cut a solid into multiple parts, how to rotate a construction plane to create angled or sloped cuts instead of flat ones, and how to use split body to separate a lid from a base and shell both out to the same wall thickness.
