They have long been an integral part of Maharashtra’s festive and literary culture. Inspired by this rich tradition, Kaustubh Chate launched CricKatha, a Diwali special dedicated entirely to cricket stories in a digital format in 2021. Since 2022, it has been published in both print and digital formats. But how does a Diwali Anka come together? In a sport where something new happens almost every day, how does an annual magazine find stories that remain relevant and retain their distinct identity? In this episode of Kattyawarchya Gappa, CricKatha editor Kaustubh Chate tells Amol Gokhale how the magazine took shape, how one connection led to another, and how writers, cricketers, and cricket enthusiasts came together to support its journey. From receiving a letter from Sunil Gavaskar to reaching readers in more than 30 countries, CricKatha has come a long way. A copy of the magazine is also the only Marathi publication housed in the library of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. This is the story of CricKatha, where cricket storytelling meets Maharashtra’s cherished Diwali Anka tradition… Get your copy of CricKatha Visit https://crickatha.com/shop/ and select your preferred format.
